The laptop should get its IP address for its Network Interface Card (NIC) adapter port from the GRIDSMART Processor when trying to connect through the Laptop (or Local) port on the Processor. If laptop is set for an office environment using a fixed or static IP address outside of the network segment it needs, it won't communicate with the Processor and the GRIDSMART Client won't connect. Set the laptop's NIC port properties to obtain an IP address automatically. This allows the laptop to query the processor using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to get a useable IP address for itself.
