If a bicyclist or other vehicle stops such that they are both in a traditional stop-line zone and in the box, calls will only be made (outputs activated) for the stop-line zone. This is to prevent triggering extensions on opposing phases for what is very common traveler behavior. (Recall that a stop-line zone implies that it is at stop-line and has an assigned phase.) If a bicycle or other vehicle stops only in the box, well past a stop-line, which is a common behavior of bicyclists, GRIDSMART will maintain the object if it was tracked through a stop-line zone into the box. Hence box outputs will stay active in this scenario as GRIDSMART continues to err on the side of safety.
