Normally no. The system acquires video from camera intersections, and uses that video for detection and counting. While the vehicle statistics of the intersection are stored long-term, video frames are processed and immediately discarded.

If desired, a few days of video data can be stored by temporarily attaching a portable USB drive to the GRIDSMART Processor. This is useful for examining the site via Replay in the GRIDSMART Client software. Also, stored video is sometimes requested by GRIDSMART Support. Once a drive is attached to a Processor, it will automatically begin storing data and continue until the drive is full. The storage rate is approximately 100 GB/day for each fisheye camera and 50 GB/day for each traditional camera.

Another way to get video from a System is by requesting images one-at-a-time through the GRIDSMART API. This approach does not store the images, but provides flexibility for the user to do so. This method can capture video at about 1 frame-per-second. While useful for monitoring the intersection, it captures considerably less frames than what is acquired by an attached USB drive.
